Type Locality and Naming

Tumnin zone of westernmost Sikhote-Alin.


Lithology and Thickness

The Uktur Formation is subdivided into the lower and upper members (Turbin, 1994). The lower member consists of sandstones intercalated with siltstones, sandstones and lenses of gravelstones with a total thickness of 500 m. The upper member contains siltstones, mudstones, rhythmic alternation of sandstones and siltstones, lenses of conglomerates, gravelstones, spillites and diabases with a total thickness of 3000 m.

The contact with underlying rocks is unknown.

Conformably overlain by Largasu Fm

Fossils

"The stratigraphic range of the formation is considered as Barremian-lower Albian (Turbin, 1994). Recently an assemblage of foraminifera including Ammosiphonia [=Cribrostomoides] nonioninoides and Cribrostomoides repentinus typical for Aptian-middle Albian has been reported from the upper part of the formation (Marinov and Amelin, 2019)."
